The Peoria Civic Center is located in Central Illinois. It
features many wonderful attractions, such as sports events, concerts, and
plays. The Bradley University's men's basketball team and the Rivermen hockey
team of Peoria call the Civic Center their home for their games. The theater
that is part of the Civic Center is home to the Peoria Ballet and Peoria
Symphony Orchestra. Other events that commonly are held there are weddings,
banquets, meetings, and conventions.
The arts are celebrated to a great extent at the Peoria
Civic Center. You will find statues such as the one that has been placed in
commemoration of Moses and Lucy Pettengill, whose home was at the corner of
Liberty and Jefferson, which is the location for the Civic Center. They had
helped slaves escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad. The statue, titled
"Knockin' on Freedom's Door", is meant to celebrate this. Other great
works of art that you will find there are "Sister City Friends 2",
"Seven Generations", "Cedric the Dragon", and several
others.

Center include several sports events, such as Bradley Basketball vs. Eastern
Illinois University on 11/9 at 7 pm, Rivermen Hockey vs. Grand Rapids on 11/10
