The Broncos now face the most difficult portion of their schedule, as they have to go on the road to face both the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers in consecutive weeks before their bye in Week Seven. The game in New England will mark the first time the two teams have met since the postseason last year, when the Pats dismantled the Broncos 45-10. It also marks the 13th meeting between Manning and Patriots’ QB Tom Brady, as the two have had a number of epic duels throughout their careers. Brady has gotten the best of Manning more often than not, but the Broncos are much improved from a season ago, while New England has had a number of struggles in 2012. This game could also be a preview of a playoff matchup in a couple months, so it is an important one for the Broncos to focus on. While the game in New England carries a lot of meaning, the game against the Chargers is even more crucial because it is a matchup of the best two teams in the AFC West. The Chargers have raced out to a 3-1 record through the first month of the season, including victories over divisional foes Oakland and Kansas City, and appear to be the team that the Broncos have to worry about in the division. A loss to the Chargers could leave the Broncos several games back in the standings, which would be more difficult to make up later in the season. Manning and Co. should be more than ready for their visit to San Diego, and expect the team to put their best effort into taking down the Chargers in Week Six.
