Venue Review: Bill Graham Civic Auditorium

The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is a large and cavernous concert venue that accommodates a crowd of 7,000 people. The venue was formerly known as the San Francisco Civic Auditorium and was renamed in honor of Graham after his untimely death in a helicopter crash in 1991. The venue has a long history of hosting large names in the recording business, most notably The Grateful Dead, who played many concerts at the venue. The remaining members of The Grateful Dead have continued to play at the auditorium under the name Furthur. The band most recently held their annual New Year's Eve run at the venue, playing there for three consecutive nights.
